More Details Come Out About Mercedes-Benz Yacht

We have a wide selection of fine new andpre-owned vehicles here at Fletcher Jones Motorcars for our Newport Beach, CA area customers to choose from, but alas, no yachts.  The good news is that the luxury automaker has partnered up with the United Kingdom-based ship company Silver Arrows Marine to build a high-end boat that is nicknamed the "Silver Arrow of the Seas."

It does have a real name, though: the Mercedes-Benz Arrow460 - Granturismo, and we've been smitten with the idea ever since the automaker announced the project at last year's Monaco Yacht Show.  It blends all of the best qualities of our the brand's luxury vehicles - luxury, power, sophistication - with the fun that only a seafaring vessel can offer.

It cruises at a speed that many auto enthusiasts would laugh at, but 30 knots (or 35 mph) is no laughing matter out at sea.  It's 480 horsepower engine gives it a top speed of 40 knots, which is more than fast enough to get a fresh salt breeze blowing through your hair.

If you're interested in owning your own Mercedes-Benz luxury yacht, you can start placing orders later this year.  Luxury like this doesn't come cheap, though, and the boat starts at 1.25 million Euros.

Mercedes-Benz Debuts Powerful New Model in PlayStation Game

Readers, have any of your kids or grandkids asked for a new PlayStation for Christmas?  It's a pretty popular option for video gamers of all ages, and it actually has something that we think many Fletcher Jones Motorcars customers may be interested in playing right now.

Designers at Mercedes-Benz have partnered up with Kazunori Yamauchi.  Yamauchi is the series producer of the popular Gran Turismo game series and President of Polyphony Digital Inc., and together, they created a powerful luxury car that can handle the twists and turns and intense competition of a virtual race course.

It's called the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo, and it has the same gull-wing doors of some of the luxury automaker's most expensive options.  It's high-end styling doesn't overshadow what lies under its hood, though, as the game lets you hear the roar of its powerful twin-turbocharged AMG V8 engines that produces 590 pound-feet of torque and churns out 585 horsepower.  This much power, coupled with a superlight frame, makes for one exciting, if virtual, driving experience.

Get an AMG History Lesson from Fletcher Jones Motorcars

Many Fletcher Jones Motorcars customers are big fans of the luxury automaker's AMG division.  Cars with this label are powerful, stylish, and extremely luxurious, and they have a rich history to match their high price tags.  AMG has recently debuted its own history in a 9:28 minute video, and it's an ode to the unique and different AMG lineup is definitely worth watching.

It's packed with fun facts that are sure to impress your colleagues at holiday parties over the next month.  For example, do you know what AMG stands for?  Thanks to the video, we know do, and you will, too: the A stands for Hans Werner Aufrecht, the M for Erhard Melcher, and the G for Großaspach, Germany.  The first two individuals are the former Mercedes-Benz engineers who formed the branch, and the town of Großaspach is where Aufrecht was born.

Employee Highlight: Lease Retention Group

Have you ever leased a Mercedes-Benz from Fletcher Jones Motorcars? If so, chances are you've spoken to someone from our talented and charismatic lease-retention team. (Pictured from left to right: Ben Baysic, Daniella Quiroz, Dana DelMarmol, and Britten Devereux). The lease retention group builds relationships with clients so that they can set them up with their next dream car when the time is right. They treat their clients the same way they treat each other, like family.

Ben Baysic has been working with Mercedes-Benz for 15 years, and has been with the Fletcher Jones family for 3 years. He is originally from Cerritos, and now resides in Huntington Beach. "I find gratitude in working for the #1 Mercedes-Benz Center. To be able to say, 'I helped us get there' means a lot in the automotive world."

Daniella Quiroz is from Covina, California and currently lives in Irvine. She has been in the auto industry for 11 years and with Fletcher Jones Motorcars for 5 years. "We are committed to providing world-class service. Every guest receives a quality experience from the moment they call in to the moment they drive off in their new Mercedes-Benz."
 
Dana DelMarmol is originally from Whittier, California and now lives in Aliso Viejo with her husband and beautiful 18-month old baby girl. She has been with Fletcher Jones Motorcars for 6 years.

Our newest member, Britten is originally from Arizona, and now lives in Costa Mesa, California. "As a Client Care Representative in Lease Retention, I have the pleasure of interacting with a diverse portfolio of clients, who see, feel, appreciate and treasure a very good thing...their Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class Helps to Propel November Sales

We finally have the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class sedan available for sale here at Fletcher Jones Motorcars, and if you're interested in purchasing this highly anticipated vehicle, then we recommend visiting our showroom soon because supply may not be able to keep up with demand in the coming months.

This stylish sedan has only been on sale for a few weeks, and it's already helping the brand to hit stellar sales numbers.   The automaker had sales gains of 14 percent in November, and the CLA-Class is helping it to outshine one of its closest competitors: BMW.

The automaker has released a statement to dealerships nationwide that supplies of the CLA-Class could be especially low during the first half of next year.  Even though the Kecskemét, Hungary plant at which these models are being produced is running at full capacity, demand could easily outpace supply between now and June.

"This is our best launch in 20 years," says Steven Cannon, Mercedes-Benz CEO, "The CLA has been a phenomenal success right out of the gate."1  And there are plenty of reasons why this powerful model has been such a great performer so far, and one big one is that it's priced at a point where it's very attractive to a younger demographic.  The average buyer for this particular model is 46 years old, whereas the brand's overall average is 57.

Steve Lawrence Retires after 40 Years

Steve Lawrence started his career in Mercedes-Benz Parts, 40 years ago with Jim Slemons Imports back in 1973.

He worked his way up to Assistant Parts Manager and then to Wholesale Parts Manager at the Jim Slemons Wholesale warehouse in Tustin. When Jim Slemons Imports closed its doors in 1991, the Dealership was then purchased by Fletcher Jones Jr. in December of 1991. Steve retained his position as Wholesale Parts Manager at Fletcher Jones Motorcars and was also in charge of supplying parts to our Body Shop which was located on Quail St. just down the block from the main dealership.

Steve also helped put together an advertisement in both Hemmings Motor News and the Star Magazine for mail order parts that Fletcher Jones sold to customers all over the country.

A few years later, Fletcher Jones Motorcars moved into their new state of the art dealership on Jamboree. Steve continued to sell parts to local Wholesale customers and all over the country. 

When the New Car PDIs and the Pre-Owned Certification vehicles were moved to an offsite location in Irvine, Steve was instrumental in setting up and running the Parts inventory over there.

He returned to the main Dealership in 2008 and began taking care of our Service Technicians and it did not take him long to become one of the top producers again at the Parts service counter.

Steve has always been a true professional and nothing shows that more than in the last 6 months as he has coached and trained 2 of our own to be the next generation of Parts advisors.

As Steve moves on to the next chapter of his life, he is excited to have the opportunity to do more of the things he enjoys such as cooking, reading, taking his dogs out for a walk and traveling. He will also enjoy spending more time with his lovely wife Kathy and his 2 sons, Steve ( who attends College in San Diego ) and Chris who is working as a Parts Advisor here at Fletcher Jones and will continue to carry on the Lawrence Legacy.

Steve has always been well respected by the people he has worked with and the guests he has come in contact with over the last 40 years and he will be truly missed.

Organized by Dale Tupker and David Lee, Fletcher Jones Motorcars recently joined  Park Lane Jewelry to co-host an event. On Saturday, November 16, 2013, the event was held at the Marriott in Irvine, California. 

At the close of the event, David came up to the podium and announced the "Drive a Mercedes-Benz for a Day" prize. CEO of Park Lane Jewelry, Mr. Scott Levin and the attendees at the conference were thrilled with the surprise. The conference room was soon roaring with excitement and cheering. Park Lane associate, Lynnelle Harmer was the lucky winner (pictured above).

How long have you been with Fletcher Jones Motorcars? 

I've been at Fletcher for six years this February 

What inspired you to enter the automotive industry?  

My stepfather always had an interest in cars. He would often bring home muscle cars and it was fun learning about them. Even more fun knowing more about engines than my brother and his buddies growing up! My biggest love for this type of work is the clients. I love people & pride myself on customer service, which I clearly learned from my mother. I do all that I can to make sure each and every client is taken care of and love getting to know each and every one! 

Why Mercedes-Benz? 

After my first year living here, I was rear ended. The car that hit me was traveling approximately 60 mph. I walked away from the scene with only minor injuries. My decision was made that day, I will never drive anything but a Mercedes-Benz, as it clearly saved my life! 

What brought you to Huntington Beach? 

Six years ago, I packed up my two kids and lizard and moved here from Lake County, which is close to Napa. I had an opportunity to better myself and my kids. We came here only knowing each other, living out of a Uhaul for the first few days. We finally found a house that we call home and couldn't be happier. Lots of ups and downs, but happy that my journey brought me here. 

What do you like most about Huntington Beach? 

Huntington Beach is amazing. My kids love their school and have made some very solid friendships. We live blocks from the beach but don't visit nearly enough. I enjoy living in a town where everything is so centrally located. You can ride your bike anywhere! 

What's life like outside of work? 

I have an amazing son who is my best friend and my biggest helper. He has done so much to help his little sister and I. They are both wonderful kids. Although they were dealt a tough card, they have been brave and resilient through it all. Now I work for the number one dealership in the nation, and while I'm at work, they help out with housework when I can't be there. I'm a very lucky mommy! 

Do you have hobbies? Car-related or otherwise? 

My son LOVES racing. He started racing go karts when he was four. My daughter is now old enough to start as well, but I'm not sure I am ready for that! In the new year, we have made plans to visit more places and do more things outside of the house. We are excited for new adventures to unfold. 

What's a random fact about yourself? 

On Sundays during football season, I refuse to leave my house. I have a new-found love for NFL. Go pack go!

You may hear phrases like this today in lieu of Chinese New Year. The holiday, which is also known as the Spring Festival or Lunar New Year, marks the start of new life. Traditionally, the holiday is linked to honoring the household, heavenly gods and ancestors. The holiday spans two weeks. The first week is dedicated to spending time with family and friends. The second involves traditions designed to bring good luck. The festivities end with a Lantern Festival. 

So where are some of the best local hotspots to spend the holiday? 

Disneyland

Disneyland gets dressed up for Lunar New Year, celebrating the Year of the Horse. Stroll along walkways with ornamental lanterns and banners in the sky, wishing all a Happy Lunar New Year. Mulan and Mushu lead a procession at select times during the day along the parade route in front of Paradise Gardens. 

Tet Festival 

The Tet Festival of Southern California is known as the world's largest Tet Festival outside of Vietnam. Visitors can enjoy a vibrant array of traditional foods, live entertainment, festive games, and customs celebrating Lunar New Year. 

Chinese New Year Festival: Chinatown, Los Angeles 

115th Golden Dragon Parade celebrates over one hundred years of tradition . This colorful celebration features almost two dozen floats, marching bands, and people of influence. The parade continues to be a rich and diverse experience for Angelenos of all ages and ethnicities. Red packets of money and firecrackers add fun and excitement to the Chinese New Year Celebration 

Pretend City 

Expanding the knowledge of culture is such an important aspect of the development of a child. Pretend City, a Children's Museum in Irvine, teaches children traditions associated with Chinese New Year.

Mercedes-Benz Makes Brief Appearance in Heinz Ketchup Super Bowl Commercial

This year for the Super Bowl,  Mercedes-Benz may not of had any of the coveted air time for a commercial of its own, but the automaker still found a way to make it onto the big screen if only for a few brief seconds. Let's take a closer look at where this occurred.

The official commercial is for Heinz ketchup, and it takes us through a series of scenes all set to the rhythm of people tapping the classic glass bottle to get the delicious red condiment to come out. One scene about six seconds in, shows us a family enjoying hot dogs around a campfire. If you look closely at the video below, in the background appears a classic Mercedes-Benz T2 camper.

There you have it readers, Mercedes-Benz did in fact make a cameo appearance. As avid fans of the brand, all of us here at Fletcher Jones Motorcars were excited to pick up on this detail. In fact this commercial shows a dog on an untethered leash, a runaway bride and an escaped prisoner, though not in that order, all pursuing the Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG®  as an elderly couple looks on. Let's watch.

Introducing Our New Aiport Shuttle Van Design

It is no secret that we offer great Preferred Owner Benefits to our clients.  One of the most popular is our Airport Shuttle and Parking service.  Recently we ordered a new shuttle van and our general manager, Garth Blumenthal, saw it as a wonderful opportunity to reach out to our community and invite local children to come up with the design for it.  Our Vantastic Coloring Contest was launched on the dealership's social media platforms allowing entries to be downloaded, colored, and submitted to the dealership.  Once all the entries were collected, four winners were chosen and awarded bragging rights as well as donations to their schools.  The first place winner's design was wrapped on our new van and the winners were invited to the dealership for its premier and to take pictures.  Even Repair Bear uses the Airport Shuttle service when traveling, whether it's for business or pleasure.

Q&A with Adam Gedik, Service Advisor

Meet Adam Gedik, one of our Service Advisors here at Fletcher Jones Motorcars.  We recently caught up with him in our service drive for a little Q&A and snap shot.  Enjoy!

FJM:  How long have you been in the industry?  With Fletcher Jones Motorcars?

AG:  I have been in the automotive industry for 20 years.  I worked in my first shop when I was 14 and have stayed with the industry ever since then.  I started my career with Fletcher Jones Motorcars in October of 2013, and I look to forward to an exciting, prosperous experience with the company.

FJM:  What inspired/interested you about this industry?

AG:  I am inspired by this industry because, very simply, people need to drive.  Transportation is a necessity and to drive a car you love is sense of freedom and self expression.  Coming from a technical background, I am interested in the forward thinking and technology that is ever changing and bringing us amazing new vehicles.

FJM:  Have you always had an interest in cars?  In Mercedes-Benz?

AG:  From a young age I have been mechanically inclined and fascinated by different designs of automobiles.  I have always been attracted to 1960's American Classics.  The 1966 Chevelle is one of the sexiest cars I've ever laid eyes on.  I love certain exotics as well and our CLS 63AMG has to be one of my absolute favorite vehicles.

FJM:  Where do you live?  Did you grow up there?  If not, what brought you there?

AG:  I live in Newport Beach, I have lived in this area and Orange County most of my life. When I was 11, my family moved to Seattle for 6 years but we moved back to Southern California after missing the beautiful weather and as we know, it is one of the best places to live on the planet.

FJM:  What are some of the hot spots around town that you enjoy/recommend?

AG:  When it comes to going out in town or anywhere else, I enjoy eating good food Anywhere. I eat very clean most of the time- (no fast food). I frequently go to San Shi Go Sushi in Laguna Beach- that has been my sushi spot for over 10 years. I have recently found Shuck Oyster Bar in SoCo to be phenomenal and they have a great variety of oysters from all over the world. I usually cook my own steaks at home but occasionally you will find me at Mastro's Ocean Club when I want a fine dining experience.

FJM:  Do you have kids?  Names/Ages? Pets?

AG:  I do not have any kids, I am currently focusing on my career and I would like to travel the world before I settle down in that way. My girlfriend has 2 small dogs that I have adopted as my own, typically I like larger breeds of dogs but living in an apartment in Newport Beach is not adequate space for that.

FJM:  Do you have any hobbies?  Car-related or otherwise?

AG:  My hobbies include anything physically active. I wake up at 430 every day and go to the gym. I have a weight lifting and cardio routine 5 days a week and I will get in the boxing ring from time to time for 5 rounds.  I run for distance occasionally- (I did a half-marathon in Kauai a couple years ago), and I like stand-up paddle boarding.  My future hobby will include restoring several classic cars.

FJM:  What is a random fact about yourself?

AG:  A random fact about me is that I enjoy cooking.

Mercedes-Benz Unveils New S-Class Coupe

There's hardly a better time than the Geneva Motor Show this month to unveil the next line of luxury from Mercedes-Benz. We here at our Newport Beach, CA dealership simply can't wait much longer for the long-anticipated 2015 edition of the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class, which we hope is coming soon. With the unveiling of the coupe version of that model, we're only hoping it's coming soon.

The public in Geneva was able to see the redefined, luxurious and sporty two-door up close, something we're certainly a tad jealous about. The coupe maintains the larger S-Class body and frame and obviously comes with the power to match.

Deliveries here in the U.S. are expected to occur by late fall of this year. We can expect to see the new S550 coupe that carries a 4MATIC 4.7-liter V8 biturbo engine under the hood. Another essential facet of our mission is ensuring that our guests have received the world-class experience they have come to expect. Enter, our Guest Relations team! Photographed from left to right, meet Brooke Massi, Michelle Garcia, Tamara San Miguel, and Alyssa Fuchser. 

These dedicated, hard-working ladies take a proactive approach, reaching out to each and every guest to make sure they've received optimum care during their visit. Their goal is to ensure that our visitors are satisfied with the quality of our products and services, and answer any questions that clients may have following their visit. 

Not only do they follow-up with our clients, but they carefully review the surveys that our customers take the time to submit. Each and every guest survey is personally reviewed by the team and we use your feedback to reflect and improve on our business practices. 

"The best part of my job is when I get the opportunity to transform a guest's experience and maintain their trust and loyalty," says Michelle. We all love what we do and really do appreciate the loyalty.
