For 45 years, our favorite automaker, Mercedes-Benz has been producing its performance-tuned AMG® line adding power, style and speed to its already impressive new Mercedes-Benz lineup. And this year, it will be celebrating this milestone by creating an exclusive, special-edition model known as the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG® GT3 45th Anniversary supercar. And though we've mentioned it briefly before, we thought it was time to delve a little deeper into the specifics of this exciting addition.
And when we at Fletcher Jones Motorcars say exclusive, we mean exclusive. Specifically onlyfive of the special-edition models are slated to be released for sale. What's more, each one will receive a personal touch. In fact, in the official release, Mercedes-Benz announced that Record DTM champion and AMG® brand ambassador, Bernd Schneider, is the one involved in the production process, and actually installs the AMG® 6.3-liter V8 engine in the SLS AMG® GT3 45th Anniversary with an AMG® engine filter.1
In addition to the new powerplant, the SLS AMG® GT3 model will also feature refined accoutrements such as a Graphite matte paint job, AMG® alloy wheels, special edition logos, carbon fiber-shelled seats, six-point, silver-trimmed seat belts and decorated seat backs.
And for the lucky (very) few who get their hands on one of these special-edition models, Mercedes-Benz is also throwing in a free tour of its factory in Affalterbach.
