Mercedes-Benz has always been committed to driver safety. After all, the German automaker has a long history of pioneering safety advancements in automobiles. And now, it can add another impressive safety advancement to its long list: a brand-new directionally perceptive system, Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive.
Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive works by alerting the driver if he or she is headed into a no-entry or wrong-way area by mistake, and then promptly corrects the issue, helping to deter any possible mishaps that could come as a result.
So, how does it work?
A camera which is positioned above the windshield assesses the area and registers street signs. If it detects a no-entry, one-way, or wrong-way sign it alerts the driver using three warning beeps and a red light on the center console - this is due to the communication of the camera with the navigation system.
Presently, the new Intelligent Drive System is slated to be available for both the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and E-Class models, in the near future.
