We got our first look at the brand-new 2014 Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive when it made its world debut at the 2013 New York International Auto Show, and all of those in attendance were blown away.  This EV is 100 percent emissions-free, features a stylish design, boasts a high-quality interior, and is coming to the United States sooner than we had originally thought.

On top of all the great qualities that we just listed, it boasts an incredible estimated driving range of 115 miles, blowing away our expectations for an electric car.  It's digitally networked, too, which means that it can be checked and configured via the internet.  Clearly, it's pushing the boundaries of what we've come to expect in a new luxury car and we couldn't be more excited for when it arrives here at Fletcher Jones Motorcars early next year.

It doesn't get much better than Formula One racing and the season has already got underway with three straight wins for the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team.

Nico Rosberg took the top spot at the season opener in Australia, and Lewis Hamilton followed suit with two straight wins first in Malaysia and now Bahrain.  This stellar start is thanks in part to the brand new Mercedes-Benz AMG Petronas F1 W05 racer that the teams two drivers have steered into victory lane.

What makes this new racer so special is the advanced engine that was developed for this season, one that is more efficient and complies with the changes in standards for 2014.  Mercedes-Benz highlights this exciting powerplant in the video below, so take a look for yourself to learn more:

With three straight trips to the top of the podium to begin the season this year looks very promising for Hamilton, Rosberg and the entire Mercedes-Benz AMG Petronas F1 Team.

It's that time of year when we do our part to pitch in and show our support for environmental protection. Earth Day is not just a one day event, but often an entire week of activities to raise awareness of the issues facing our home planet.  Here at Fletcher Jones, we take steps to help where we can.  One way is our water bottles which are made from recycled material and we recycle the empty ones when they are discarded.  Another is our social media mascot, Repair Bear, decided to plant some trees around the dealership.  We hear he has quite the green thumb, or paw.  Do you want to take part, but not sure how?  We've compiled some upcoming local activities across Southern California for you.

Claremont:  "Helping 2 Protect the Environment" is the theme for this year's Earth Day Celebration in Claremont. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 26, along 2nd Street in the Claremont Village. There will be environmental demonstrations, gardening workshops, dozens of exhibitor/vendor booths, a kids' zone, live music, green products and workshops, guest speakers, school exhibits, and a used shoe donation drop-off.

Dana Point: The Ocean Institute celebrates Earth Day with special programs and activities from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 26. Learn how to make eco-friendly crafts, explore marine life, and take part on other hands-on activities. An admission fee will be charged. Volunteer for a beach/harbor cleanup earlier in the day, from 9-11 a.m., and get free admission. The Ocean Institute is located at 24200 Dana Point Harbor Dr.

Glendora: "Treasure the Earth" is the theme for this year's Earth Day celebration at Glendora City Hall, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 26. The day kicks off with a community bike ride and children’s bike safety rodeo, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The day's events will include gardening, composting, and water-efficient irrigation workshops, an exotic animal show, informational booths, children's activities, eco tours, vendor booths, live entertainment, food trucks, face painting, drought-tolerant plant exhibits, children's treasure hunt, free document shredding, bike valet parking, and more.

Lancaster: The Antelope Valley celebrates Earth Day with its annual California Poppy Festival, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., April 26-27, at Lancaster City Park. Entertainment, hundreds of exhibitors, and more. The California Poppy Festival began as an Earth Day celebration, and carries on the Earth Day tradition of concern and caring for the environment. Admission prices $8 adults, $5 seniors, military, and children, free for children 5 and under.

Long Beach: For the 15th year, Aquarium of the Pacific is planning a special Earth Day program for aquarium visitors on the weekend of April 26-27. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a number of family-friendly activities designed to celebrate the environment and to teach everyday tips for sustainable living. A number of Earth-friendly organizations will staff exhibit booths, and guests can take part in a number of hands-on learning demonstrations. An aquarium admission fee will be charged, but the event is free for Aquarium of the Pacific members.

Los Angeles: The city's largest Earth Day celebration, World Fest, returns to Woodley Park in Encino again this year, from 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday, May 18. The daylong solar-powered celebration will feature more than 100 environmental exhibits and vendor booths, educational workshops, kids' activities including storytelling and face painting, live entertainment, an expansive food court, and more. Special programs and lectures will be held in designated eco-tent and healthy hut structures. Paid admission is required, but tickets will be offered at a discounted price if purchased by April 30.

Manhattan Beach: Earth Day will be celebrated with a day of entertainment and education in Polliwog Park from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, April 26. Enjoy live entertainment, speakers and presentations on the Eco-Education State, a composting class, children's activities, an eco-shopping area, free bike valet parking, food and beverage vendors, an alternative fuel vehicle display, e-waste and printer toner cartridge recycling, and more.

Mission Viejo: A combined Earth Day/Arbor Day Celebration is planned for Saturday, April 26, 8 a.m.-noon, at Coronado Park. The event kicks off with a community planting party and cleanup to plant new landscaping along Avery Parkway, east of Marguerite Parkway. A green expo at Coronado Park will feature a home composting workshop, Earth-friendly crafts, and more. There will be free hot dogs and ice cream for participants (while supplies last).

San Clemente: Learn about protecting the environment during a special Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 26, at the San Clemente Pier and Parque Del Mar. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will include educational demonstrations, displays, live entertainment, vendor booths, a children's crafts area, and giveaways. Start the day by joining a beach cleanup effort, beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Santa Monica: Heal the Bay and the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium are teaming up for a full day of events on Saturday, April 26, in honor of Earth Day. Morning events include a beach cleanup from 10 a.m.-noon and sandcastle contest from 9 a.m.-12:30. Beach cleanup volunteers will be offered free same-day admission to the aquarium, which will be open from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Special Earth Day events at the aquarium will include scavenger hunts, face painting, crafts stations, and a film screening and special presentation by underwater photographer/author Richard Salas, beginning at 2 p.m.

In the long history of our brand you will probably not find much about the Mercedes-Benz 540 K Streamliner.  This is because the race it was specifically designed for was canceled due to the outbreak of World War II.

In 1937 when this vehicle was born is was created to provide supreme comfort, speed and aerodynamics.  However, the top speed was so great that the tires could not keep up with the power and weight of the Streamliner, which is why with no race to compete in the ride was left to become just another test vehicle at the Dunlop tire facility.

It was here where the Streamliner was lost, and the legend almost died.

Recently the chassis of this vehicle was rediscovered by Mercedes-Benz, and of course they immediately felt the longing to bring the beast back to life.  Check out the rebirth of the Streamliner in the video below:
