When one thinks of all-electric vehicles, high-performance and powerful aren't usually the adjectives that first come to mind. After all, electric autos offer so much in terms of fuel economy and eco-consciousness, that these two attributes often more than make up for the modest engines and hp output typically associated with electric drivetrains.

However, as enthusiasts can attest to, Mercedes-Benz is never one to settle for typical, and always one to break the mold. And as we mentioned in a previous post, the Bavarian automaker was slated to release the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG® Electric Drive at the venerable Paris Motor Show. And, now that it has, we can't help but get excited about this innovative EV model with the jaw-dropping ability to produce 740 horsepower and 737 lb.-ft. of twisting.

Yes, you read that correctly; the all-new SLS AMG® Electric Drive features four synchronous permanent-magnet electric motors and a 60kWh liquid-cooling lithium-ion battery. Additionally, it is mated with two transmissions that distribute power among the four wheels, helping the vehicle achieve the aforementioned pony and torque power it does.

And power isn't the only thing the new Mercedes-Benz model has going for it, the electric caralso has an impressive zero to 100km/h sprint time of a mere four seconds, reaching 250 km/h at its maximum potential.

For those of you who like the roar of an engine, never fear, because despite being a zero-emission ride, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG® Electric Drive features an 11-speaker audio system with a soundtrack akin to a rumbling engine when appropriate.
