Southern California Lunar New Year Festivities

Here at Fletcher Jones we recognize that we have many clients and associates that have an important holiday coming up. The Lunar New Year is the start of the lunar calendar, the coming of spring, and a time for celebration.  Southern California offers some fun events so you can participate in the festivities of bringing in the year of the goat too. Here are a few suggestions.

Orange County

The 2015 UVSA Tet Festival
February 20-22
The OC Fair Grounds, Costa Mesa

Attracting over 100,000 guests, this event is one of the largest with hundreds of booths offering a vibrant array of traditional foods, live entertainment, cultural displays, festive games, and a spectacular fireworks display.

Wonderful New Year Wishes
February 19-22
Disneyland’s California Adventure Park, Anaheim

Celebrate the occasion with unforgettable sights, sounds, and tastes. Head over to Paradise Gardens and Paradise Pier for a multicultural, decked-out variety of continental colors. You can also enjoy an impressive array of authentic performers as well as appearances from familiar Disney characters. It is not  just a feast for the eyes, but tummies as well with festive food and beverage options.

Lunar New Year at Universal Studios Hollywood
February 13-28
Universal Studios Hollywood, Studio City

This year they will be celebrating the"Year of the Ram" with Chinese-themed decor including some familiar Universal characters dress in traditional Chinese attire. If you’re looking for the perfect photo-op, there will be a Mandarin-speaking 12-foot-tall MEGATRON from "Transformers: The Ride 3-D".

Golden Dragon Parade and Chinese New Year Festival

Chinatown
Downtown Los Angeles

Festivities begin on the eve of the New Year in Chinatown and the parade is on Saturday at 1 p.m. With thousands of viewer live and by telecast, the 115th Annual Golden Dragon Parade will be a colorful celebration along North Broadway with floats, marching bands, government officials, various dignitaries, entertainers, local business leaders, and cultural groups. A premiere cultural event that is a rich and diverse experience.

Chinese American Museum
Downtown Los Angeles

Close out the festivities of the Lunar New Year celebration underneath a vibrant display of Chinese lanterns. There will be engaging community booths, live entertainment, music, arts & crafts, and food trucks. The free festival encourages the public to celebrate the occasion and helps to provide a deeper understanding and appreciation of the culture.
